Friday Harbor itinerary scene

4-day / 3-night itinerary

Friday Harbor with ferry timing, harbor meals, whale-watching water, and a slower island road day.

Use arrival and departure days lightly, give Friday Harbor waterfront, Salish Sea wildlife, and San Juan Island the best full day, and keep one flexible block for weather, transfers, or a second part of Friday Harbor.

By Cal Mercer — a Second Star Guide itinerary

Friday Harbor opens onto the marina, the Salish Sea, and an island of lighthouse shoreline, historic camps, farms, forests, and coastal prairie.

Best length

4 days / 3 nights

Pace

Waterfront weekend

A good first visit combines downtown Friday Harbor, one marine experience, and one drive to the island's west, north, or south shore.

Arrival

Walk the marina and Spring Street after arrival.

The ferry lands beside downtown. Explore the working harbor, browse Spring Street, visit The Whale Museum if hours allow, and eat near the waterfront.

Day 2

Give Friday Harbor waterfront, Salish Sea wildlife, and San Juan Island the strongest daylight window, then keep the remaining stops in the same area or along the natural return route.

Afternoon

Visit Lime Kiln Point after the boat trip.
